Why This Exists

Head Spa Directory was created to solve a simple problem: as Japanese head spa grows in popularity, the term "head spa" is increasingly used loosely. Salons add it to their menus without Japanese training. Spas market "Japanese-inspired" treatments without Japanese technique. For someone genuinely seeking an authentic experience, it's hard to tell what's real.

We are not a booking platform, a review aggregator, or a paid directory. We are an independent research project focused on one question: where can you find a genuine Japanese head spa?

How We Research

Every listing in the directory goes through a research process. We look at:

Training Background

The single most important signal. Where did the practitioner learn Japanese head spa? Recognized institutions like Yamano Beauty College or Shiseido Professional carry weight. Documented apprenticeship with a certified Japanese master also counts. Without verifiable training, a listing won't appear as a featured recommendation.

Treatment Protocol

An authentic Japanese head spa follows a structured sequence: scalp analysis, deep cleansing, exfoliation, steam, massage, and finishing. We look for practitioners who describe their protocol clearly — this transparency is itself a trust signal.

Practice Focus

A practitioner whose entire practice is built around head spa signals more depth than a salon that lists it as one of thirty services. We note when head spa is a dedicated offering versus an add-on.

Public Signals

Online booking availability, listed pricing, treatment descriptions, and visitor feedback all contribute to our assessment. No single signal determines whether a listing appears — it's the combination that matters.

What We Don't Do

• We don't accept paid listings. Being listed is based on merit — authentic Japanese head spa training and practice quality.
• We don't claim to have visited every spa. Our Signal Score is based on publicly verifiable information, not personal experience at every location. We're transparent about what we've confirmed versus what we're still researching.
• We don't rate or rank subjectively. We don't give star ratings or call something "the best." We describe what each practitioner offers and who it might be right for.

The Signal Score

Our Signal Score is a trust filter, not a ranking. It measures how much verifiable information a practitioner makes publicly available:

• Dedicated Page: Head spa has its own page, not buried in a service menu.
• Online Booking: Clear path to book.
• Price Listed: Transparent pricing reduces guesswork.
• Treatment Steps: The protocol is explained.
• Scalp Analysis: Diagnostic tools are part of the treatment.
• Review Signal: Evidence of visitor experiences.

A higher score means more transparency — it doesn't necessarily mean "better." Two practitioners with equal scores may serve very different needs.
